The Leaves are Turning

More and more, the leaves are turning to the colors of fall, the sidewalks are strewn with falling leaves and there is a chill in the air. We are so lucky to have a bit of rain already and that means new growth in the hills and valleys and a little less worry about fire season. We still need to stay alert and clear our gutters in preparation for heavier rains and to keep our homes safe in the case of a fire. But the cozy season is officially here!

Our office will be closed next week, Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th for the Thanksgiving holiday - garbage collection will continue as scheduled so remember to put out your cans!

We have some fun events happening in early December - see the listings below and be sure to get your tickets for Breakfast with Santa!

Enjoy a cozy weekend and stay safe as the rains sweep through, tides have been high and with rains that means extra caution in needed in the Valley. See the article below with more information about upcoming high tides.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Bike Safety in Tam Valley

We are sad to report that there was an accident involving a young person biking to school last week. We all want Tam Valley to be a safe place to walk and bike. A group of parents have gathered to form Tam Valley Safe Streets. If you are interested in learning more about their efforts to engage the County of Marin and other agencies to improv traffic safety, click here.

Eyes Up, Marin
Let’s Make our Streets Safer for Everyone!

The Eyes Up, Marin Campaign is part of the Street Smarts Program and Safe Routes to Schools, locally funded programs of the Transportation Authority of Marin.

From early-October through the end of November, you will again see bright and colorful banners and lawn signs popping up all over Marin asking people to keep their “Eyes Up” and be alert. These signs will be asking drivers to slow down, watch when turning and look for pedestrians in the crosswalk; bicyclists to yield to pedestrians and to follow the rules of the road; And those walking to pay attention when crossing the street.
PG&E Update for Tennessee Valley Rd. Planned Closure

PG&E reports that from 11/27/23 – 12/15/23, during the weekdays, Tennessee Valley Rd will be closed between Villa Garden Dr and Marin Ave. Closure hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PG&E is undergrounding power lines in the area. The contractor will do their best to provide access to the Cabin and Fernwood Cemetery during the closure, but expect traffic delays.
Manzanita Parking Lot Updates

Clean Up
Saturday, November 18th
10-11am

Grab your work gloves and head on down to help keep the Manzanita parking lot clean. Tam Valley Improvement Club (TVIC) leads this important monthly clean up. They can always use more help!
Closure

Caltrans maintenance will close the lower half of the Manzanita Park and Ride lot, along with the shoulder parking on State Route 1 (SR-1), from Monday, November 20 through Wednesday, November 29 as well as Monday, December 11 through Thursday, December 28.

The lower half of the park and ride lot will be closed 24 hours per day during these periods to prevent overnight parking in the lot, and to ensure the safety of motorists that frequent this park and ride lot. Holiday travelers should take note of the closures and plan their trips accordingly.

Caltrans will turn on Changeable Message Signs (CMS) in the park and ride lot on to notify the public. High tides alone can flood the lot at certain times of the year. Caltrans closes parts of this lot when rains and/or tides are likely to produce issues.
