Hello!

We're deep into summer with hot temperatures, sunny skies, pool days, and vacation views. The long daylight hours of the season allow us to spend more time outdoors. But, when we come inside, we realize we may need to control the light that is entering our homes at certain times of day.

In this month's issue, we showcase several of our light-controlling product options, namely Hunter Douglas and Norman, two brands that offer streamlined, on-trend solutions that will fit your personal style. Read on and check out the photos from our clients' homes that showcase how to beautifully harness natural light.

And just in time, Hunter Douglas is hosting its Smart Shades Savings Event through mid-August, offering rebates on several of the products featured in this month's article. What better way to tame the summer light than with shades that move automatically as scheduled at any time of day.

Kindest regards,

Margaret

Taming the Summer Light

Did You Know?
We didn't create the name - history did! The title of "Plantation Shutters" can be attributed to the American south. Cotton and sugar plantations in the southern states historically installed white shutters to keep homes cool during hot days. While the actual design of shutters wasn't created in the States, the association with these iconic southern style homes stuck.
Taming the Summer Light
Natural light elevates absolutely every room in the home. But, we don't want our windows wide open at every hour of the day. Numerous options offer privacy and light control to perfect the aesthetic of your room and match your taste.

When you need some privacy on your first floor.
Hunter Douglas  Sheer Shadings  such as Silhouettes, Nantuckets, Pirouettes and Banded Shades allow filtered light into the room while preserving the view outside.  These are perfect for main living areas, large picture windows and sunrooms.  Screen Shades come in varying opacities. They are great option to cut down heat and glare, working especially well on windows that face the water.
When you need flexibility.
Plantation shutters  are simply classic and provide hands-on power to adjust your window's light-permitting potential. Opt for a hidden tilt and wide louvers to maintain optimal view. Or, with a divider rail or split tilt, the top louvers operate independently from the bottom, allowing customizable privacy without blocking all the light.

When you need to sleep.
Hunter Douglas  Honeycomb shades  such as Duette and Applause come in semi-opaque and room darkening fabrics. Pull them down for privacy and to darken a room. With minimal stack, they raise completely up to disappear and blend with the frame of the window.  Roman Shades can be fabricated with a light filtering or room darkening liner offering a beautiful and functional treatment.
When you can't reach.
For those hard to reach windows, consider motorized shades . With the push of a button or even a voice command to Alexa, you can easily raise and lower your shades.
