Curb Your Perfectionism
Unless you’re a brain surgeon or a nuclear scientist (or, it now appears, a container ship captain), the biggest obstacle to getting things done is perfectionism. Many times, very good is better than nothing at all. Don’t fall into the Perfectionism Trap. It happened to a client of mine last month, and it wasn’t pretty.

Lessons from a Year of Covid
Whenever I feel I’m getting a bit too full of myself (it happens with increasing frequency), I listen to podcasts or interviews from Yuval Noah Harari. Harari, a historian and author, is about the most original intellectual I know of. His books are a must-read for me.
Here, Harari puts a historical perspective on our time in Covid. “Today many of us inhabit two worlds – the physical and virtual. When the coronavirus circulated through the physical world, many people shifted much of their lives to the virtual world, where the virus couldn’t follow.”

What We Lose When We Don’t See Our Work Acquaintances
I’m currently working on a program to help clients return to the office. Consensus among workforce strategists is that 100% work from home – or 100% work from the office – is not going to happen anytime soon, if ever. (This workforce strategist – me – completely agrees with that).
The rush to embrace full-time remote work, or return to the office, focuses too much on the tangible financial costs. There are far more intangible costs. One is the loss of seeing our work acquaintances.

And a final quote:

“Be happy. It’s one way of being wise.”
