What the Pandemic is Doing to Our Brains
I’m highly optimistic about the return to “normal” this summer, so I dislike pessimism. But even now in the late stage of the pandemic, it’s perhaps even more stressful than before. Our brains are hard-wired to deal with the unknown on a short-term basis. All of us have been dealing with it for over a year now. It’s affecting our brains.
Persuading the Unpersuadable
In case you didn’t know, we’re living in an age of polarization. I’ve resorted to changing the subject any time anyone brings up politics; I’ll never persuade them to change their opinions. (And I’m pretty sure I don’t care about their political opinions anyway!)
Adam Grant says it is possible to get even the most stubborn people to open their minds. He offers some approaches that might work at work in this excerpt from his new book.
(PS – In case you didn’t know, Adam is one of my workforce heroes).

Leadership Trends from CES
CES is the most influential tech event in the world; several years ago I had the misfortune to fly into Las Vegas at the same time. I waited two hours for a taxi at McCarron Airport.
This year the event was virtual, but still influential. Make no mistake: as tech goes, so do the rest of us.
The famed search company Spencer Stuart compiled their observations on trends arising from CES that impacts leaders, including: Virtual Leadership Becomes an Imperative.
And a final quote:

“The main problem with moving to Florida is that you
have to live in Florida.”
