Episode 10, April 15, 2020
Hi everyone,

Welcome to Tony's Tap TV. Episode 10.

ARTISTS, check out the link I've provided below to the Howard Gilman Foundation. It's a list of places and organizations that you can apply to for Covid-19 related funding as an independent artist, dancer, singer, actor or musician. It's a great resource all in one place.

Meanwhile, today we continue with content that I hope to connect with anyone and everyone who enjoys receiving a little bit of this and a little bit of that from my tap archives.

We start with this episode's International Tap Dance Hall of Fame tribute to the late Peg Leg Bates. Such an amazing man. He was very friendly and so talented. Strong!

Next we have a clip from my Tap Basics Instructional Video that focuses on shuffle hop step, hop shuffle step and yes.....wait for it...you guessed it.....SHUFFLE OFF TO BUFFALO!

And then we have a link to a little tribute I created about Woodpeckers Tap Dance Center.

Away we go then. Until the next one, and to quote my grandmother "see you in the funny papers!"

Tony

AND, here's that link to the: HOWARD GILMAN FOUNDATION
Today's International Tap Dance Hall of Fame is a tribute to the late great Peg Leg Bates. In 2005 I asked Jason Samuels Smith to perform in his honor and this is what he came up with at Tap City, the New York City Tap Festival. A brilliant performance Jason!

Now for you basic, beginner & advanced beginner level students, check out this link to a segment from my Tap Basics Video that focuses on shuffle hop step, hop shuffle step and shuffle off to Buffalo. Where?
Here is a video tribute to Woodpeckers Tap Dance Center. This was the home to the American Tap Dance Orchestra from 1989-1995. There was a lot of activity at Woodpeckers. I created this video for the very first Tap Treasures Tour conducted during Tap City in 2016. The program was designed to explore significant venues and locations that contributed to the on-going history of tap dance in New York City. Woodpeckers was certainly one of those places and the new owner allowed us to return to the space and actually perform there once again. I have footage of that event and I will share it at some point. Meanwhile this is the video that I presented to the participants on that very day.
There are numerous instructional and performance products for purchase available now on-line through Vimeo. This is another way you can support the ATDF in this time of need.

Check them out HERE!

This project was created in a "pay what you can" format, and if you like what you see and if you send us some do re mi, we will consider it a donation. No strings attached. On the other hand, if there's no money, then no problem. Just know that the ATDF appreciates any donation you CAN make large or small, especially now in this crazy new world.

So my friends, keep safe, keep well & in the spirit of tap dance ... PLEASE keep time!
