Episode 5, March 31, 2020
Hi everyone,

Welcome to Tony's Tap TV. Episode 5. Today we have another exercise for my basic and absolute beginners, another Tap Dance Hall of Fame tribute and yet another surprise that I think you will enjoy.

If you're new to all this, watch this opening video. It sort of explains what I'm do here. Sort of!
Each episode, I'm focussing on a bit of history and sharing some footage based on the International Tap Dance Hall of Fame. In this episode, we pay tribute to our very own, the late great Greg Hines. This is a little modified tribute I put together shortly after his death. Modified because the original is too long and Youtube rejected it over and over again because of copyright issues. So, I redid it.

Gregory was it. He supported ALL tap dancers and was on the board of directors of the American Tap Dance Foundation.

By the way it was GREGORY'S idea for the Tap Dance Hall of Fame in the first place in 2002. Who would have thought that just two years later we would be inducting him!

Enjoy watching this tribute to 2004 International Tap Dance Hall of Fame Recipient: Gregory Hines

For anyone interested in a quick refresh on BRUSH TOE HEELS (especially my Absolute Beginner and Basic Students), check out this video below.
Here's another from my archives. Boy is this dated. SO dated that it's hysterical, don't ask me. It was another commercial job I got and I think it was at the suggestion of Jane Goldberg. The taping is a bit out of sync at times bu that's typical when technicians don't even notice. Oh well. YOU try pretending to be a little elf like creature and tap dance in front of a blue screen, told to NOT step between the keys, lip sync ridiculous words to an old standard and SLOWLY spin a cane so it didn't disappear with the blue screen technology at the time. Wacky for sure, yet now, WONDERFUL! Yes, I've been around awhile. Be patient, I don't enter the screen for a few minutes into the thing.
There are numerous instructional and performance products for purchase available now on-line through Vimeo. This is another way you can support the ATDF in this time of need.

Check them out HERE!

Finally, in case you're just joining us, this project was created as a pay what you can format, and we will consider it a donation. No strings, no money, no problem. Just know that the ATDF appreciates any you donation you CAN make large or small, especially now.

Keep safe, keep well & in the spirit of tap dance......keep time!
