We recently had our annual Gala, where we came together with one idea in mind: that our region deserves and needs accessible, high-quality healthcare.
Funding cuts will continue to put this access in jeopardy, and it's up to us as a community to take action.
We’re just a little over halfway to our goal of $200,000. Your vocal support of these programs and sharing your own fundraising page is what will help us achieve that goal.

Advancing Awareness: Black Maternal Health Week & WIC
Last week, our team was honored to take part in Black Maternal Health Week through a special speaking engagement at Westfield State University. Our Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, Laconia, connected with members of the Diversity in Healthcare Club to share insights on Black maternal health and the role of WIC in supporting families. We’re grateful to Brad Riley for helping make this opportunity possible and for keeping our work part of such important conversations.

Health and Safety Fair - Greenfield Community College
Tapestry Harm Reduction staff recently partnered with a group of GCC nursing students focused on identifying opioid overdose and Narcan administration. The event brought together students, staff, and community members for education and conversation around health and safety topics.
Tapestry staff were on site to share resources, answer questions, and distribute 47 Narcan kits, helping expand access to life-saving tools and information.

Resilient Valley is encouraging Western Mass DAF holders to join the "Half My DAF" movement! Check it out: https://www.resilientvalleyma.org
Right now, more than $251 billion is sitting in Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). What if we could unlock even a portion of that to keep our Valley’s communities, landscapes, and shared future thriving?
Do you use a Donor Advised Fund for your giving? Have you planned a DAF gift to Tapestry between now and May 1st, or given one as far back as December? Make sure to submit documentation of the gift to ResilientValleyMA.org before May 1st so we may receive matching funds!

Tapestry has been doing harm reduction since 1988, providing services such as HIV/AIDS screening, needle exchange, and handing out free naloxone (the generic name for the brand of medicine called Narcan).
What year was naloxone (Narcan) invented?

Harm Reduction Counselor

"When I’m not at work, I’m all about family and finding peace outdoors—you’ll often find me taking long walks at the reservoir. I’m a naturally nurturing person, whether I’m caring for my loved ones, tending to things at home, or simply enjoying the fresh air and quiet moments outside.
Why I love working in harm reduction: After more than 20 years working in the healthcare field, I have seen firsthand how people who use our services are often treated within the system. I spent many years advocating for participants from inside the hospital, but over time, I realized I wanted to work with people more directly and build relationships rooted in trust and respect.
Harm reduction speaks to me because it allows me to be on the front lines—meeting people exactly where they are, without judgment. This work lets me show, through both action and empathy, that people matter and that there are others who genuinely care about their well-being. I feel deeply aligned with this work and truly am where I want to be."
