We are full steam ahead as 2019 gets underway. The striper fishing on the lower Roanoke is already very good, and we have consistently been doing well on most outings with 50-100 fish days. Come join us for some exciting winter fishing on one of our beautiful coastal rivers!

I want to thank all of our loyal and supportive customers who fished with us in 2018. We had a great year, and I owe it all to you. We can't do it without you, and I am truly grateful for the friendships I have made with each one of you over the past 9 years. Yes...we are approaching 10 years, and we're hoping for at least two more decades of great fishing and many more memorable experiences!

Shad Fishing Trips

The Roanoke, Neuse, and Tar Rivers experience a unique migration in winter and early spring each year before the stripers arrive. From Mid-February through early April, Hickory and American Shad enter the rivers in large numbers. Catches of 100-200 shad per trip are not uncommon during the peak of the run.

We fish all 3 rivers and offer single river trips and "Double Header Shad" trips where we fish the Tar for American Shad and the Roanoke for Hickory Shad ("Hicks") in the same day. This is a great fishery on light to ultralight spinning tackle and 4-5 weight fly gear and is my favorite fishery of the year. In fact, I love shad fishing so much that my river skiff is named the "Hickory Nut".
