New CSS Process and Mid-Year Forms

Earlier this year, the changes to the new home warranty program with a new Customer Service Standard (CSS) came into effect for homes and condominium units with a date of possession of May 1, 2024 and after.

As part of these key changes, Tarion introduced a Mid-Year Statutory Warranty Form. This new form has the same 120-day initial and 30-day pre-conciliation builder repair periods as the initial and year-end forms.

Reminder - Changes to Legacy Repair Agreements

Effective September 1, Tarion has made changes to the process for Vendor/Builder and Homeowner Repair Agreements for homes with a date of possession before May 1, 2024.

Previously, the case was closed, and the homeowner could request/reinstate their conciliation after the date in the agreement expired.

Now - to ensure fairness across the process - the case will no longer be closed, and the conciliation will be scheduled beyond the agreed upon date, which will extend the timelines. The homeowner will be contacted at that time to ask if the conciliation is required and if not, the case will be closed, and they can no longer request or reinstate their conciliation

You can find more information about repair period extensions below and can find the repair agreement on BuilderLink.

Submitting Purchaser Information to Tarion

Reminder - Vendor/builders must submit purchaser contact information to Tarion within 30 days of the purchaser signing their purchase agreement.

This simple process just requires you to submit the purchaser's first and last name, email address, or their current physical address if they do not have an email.

You can submit this information by using the spreadsheet that can be downloaded in BuilderLink, and if you have any issues, please write to builderlink@tarion.com for assistance.

If changes need to be made after submitting, please email purchaserinfo@tarion.com.

If you have questions about the above updates, please do not hesitate to contact us at stakeholderrelations@tarion.com.

Sincerely,
