City Approves New Mural/Photo Grant Incentive Program
Commercial properties within the CRA and Sponge Docks areas are eligible for a new incentive grant that would place murals or historic photographs on building exteriors. The Photo/Mural grant program is a matching grant providing up to $2,500 to the owner of a property. For more information and program details, click here.
Welcome New Businesses: Shaka Restaurant & Bar and Catapult Adventure Park

Open in January, Shaka Restaurant & Bar is an island-themed restaurant with outdoor tiki bar located at the entrance to the Sponge Docks at 900 N. Pinellas. The new restaurant offers a "taste of the islands" with menu choices including luau pork and conch salad. Catapult Adventure Park is now open at 40767 US Hwy 19 N., site of the former Kidz World of Play. The facility offers hours of indoor recreation and challenging attractions including bouncing, leaping, climbing, zip lines, obstacle course and more. Activities are geared for all ages from toddlers, teens, and adults.
Help Develop Resiliency Plan for Historic District and Greektown - Community Meeting Feb. 24
The City is creating a plan to help mitigate coastal storm and sea level rise hazards that threaten the city's historic resources. Resident input is critical to developing a plan that will help property owners and the City adapt these resources to become more resilient without changing the historic characteristics of the properties and areas.
New Public Art Installations Beautify City
A whimsical pelican bench, illuminated art boxes, and baseball- and softball-themed murals are beautifying the city, attracting residents and visitors to take Instagram photos, and are gaining statewide attention. The latest Florida Association of Public Art Professionals (FAPAP) recently featured three of Tarpon Springs' public art installations in its January state news briefing.
Comprehensive Plan Update and Strategic Planning Process Underway
Keep up with and participate in the City's Comprehensive Plan Update and Strategic Planning process. Both initiatives will set priorities and plans for the direction of the City in the next 5-10 years.
