Get Involved in the FY26 City Budget Process


The FY26 budget process has begun, and residents are encouraged to participate by completing an online survey, attending budget workshops, and expressing thoughts at two public hearings. More On-Street Parking Available Downtown


City Public Works crews removed "bulb-outs" at two locations on E. Tarpon Ave. between Safford and Ring Streets, creating an additional five parking spaces. Crews also recently striped six new spaces on E. Court St. between Alt. 19 and Safford, adding a total 11 new on-street parking spaces to the busy downtown.

N. Grosse/E. Tarpon Ave. Intersection to Close July 7 for Road Improvements


The intersection of E. Tarpon and Grosse Ave. will close beginning Monday, July 7, for drainage and roadway improvements. The intersection is expected to remain closed for several weeks, and the target date to re-open is on or before August 8. The closure is necessary for the installation of new stormwater drainage pipes that will help alleviate frequent flooding. Detour routes will be posted throughout the duration of the project.

Pinellas County Approves First Steps in Creation of New Central Tarpon Springs CRA


The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners at a public hearing May 20 approved the City's Finding of Necessity and authorized the City to create a Redevelopment Plan for a new CRA in the central portion of the City. Creating the plan will be a community project, and once complete, will require approval from the County. If approved, the Central Tarpon Springs CRA will be the second in the City and will focus on redevelopment in the area generally east of North and South Safford Avenue to US 19.

Elfers Spur Trail Connector Opens

A ribbon cutting is planned for July 31 to commemorate the opening of the Elfers Spur Recreation Trail Connector Project. The trail is an extension of the Pinellas Trail along the former railroad corridor known as the Elfers Spur owned by the City. The project begins at the northern terminus in the North Anclote Nature Park and continues northwest about 1.2 miles to Anclote Boulevard and eventually connecting to Pasco County's Anclote Coastal Trail. The project cost is $1.7 million.
