New Budget Year Begins Oct. 1


The City enters its Fiscal Year 2026 budget Oct. 1 with a balanced budget that focuses on capital projects and infrastructure. The total budget is $117,953,639, and retains the property tax, or millage, rate at 5.37, unchanged from the prior year. The millage rate equates to $1 in taxes for every $1,000 worth of home value. The budget includes a $19.3 million loan for capital improvement projects including water, sewer, and stormwater projects, brick streets, general street resurfacing, and sidewalks.

CRA Board to Discuss Proposals for Downtown Lot Redevelopment


A meeting of the Community Redevelopment Agency board will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7, 6:00 p.m. to review and potentially make a final ranking of three redevelopment proposals for a vacant lot in the 100 block of E. Tarpon Ave. The proposals can be found on the ConnectTarponSprings website. The site also allows for providing comment to the CRA board members.

Chipotle Coming to Alt. 19 and Meres


A new Chipotle Mexican Grill received final city approvals in September to construct a restaurant at 1175 S. Pinellas Ave. Plans include a 2,385 sq. ft. building with two outdoor dining areas, a mobile pick-up lane, pedestrian walkways and sidewalks, bicycle parking, and landscaping. The site fronts Alt. 19 just south of the Winn-Dixie shopping complex entrance.

Fresh Pressed Juice Moves to New Location


Fresh Pressed Juice Bar Cafe has expanded to a new location at 600 S. Pinellas Ave. Originally at 210 S. Pinellas in the Arcade Hotel, Fresh Pressed Juice now has a stand alone restaurant with additional seating and plenty of parking. The juice bar cafe offers organic options like cold-pressed juices, smoothies, acai bowls, salads, paninis, and more.

Businesses Named "Best Of" the Region


Tarpon Springs is proud to be the home of 26 businesses and organizations named the "Best of the Best" in the region under award programs sponsored by the Suncoast News and Tampa Bay Times. The Mayor and Board of Commissioners recognized and honored the awardees at a public meeting on Sept. 30.
