Election Day is Tuesday, March 11


The General Municipal/Referendum Election in Tarpon Springs is Tuesday, March 11. One Commission seat and several referendum questions are on the ballot. For polling places or other election questions, visit the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections website or call 727-464-8683.

Industry Day Brings Redevelopment Ideas


The City/CRA hosted an Industry Day in February for developers and others interested in acquiring and redeveloping a vacant lot at 144 E. Tarpon Ave. Participants provided insight and ideas and made recommendations on processes toward a successful development. A report will be given to the CRA Board in April with next steps determining a project solicitation. Visit Bonfire for more information.

Welcome New Business: Acropolis Greek Taverna


The newly-opened Acropolis Greek Taverna is enjoying rave reviews in its remodeled location at 514 Dodecanese Blvd. Replacing Yianni's following the hurricanes, Acropolis offers traditional Greek dishes with daily specials and bold Mediterranean flavors in a fun, lively atmosphere. Make a reservation for Friday or Saturday nights where the action includes plate breaking, zorba and belly dancing. Acropolis has six locations across Florida.

Five Fish Expands to Downtown Location

Five Fish, a longtime fixture on the Sponge Docks, has opened a second location Downtown at 104 E. Tarpon Ave. Five Fish on the Ave. offers jewelry, apparel and home accessories from brands like Enewton, Brighton, Nora Fleming. and more. This is the second store with locations Downtown and the Sponge Docks. One Amazing Find at 106 E. Tarpon Ave. in 2024 opened a second location, Gifted, at the Sponge Docks Riverwalk Shops.

New Business Expansion: The Baking Soldier

The Baking Soldier is growing and has expanded into a larger storefront with more visibility at 11 N. Pinellas Ave. Business expansions are a welcome sign of growth and investment and a sign of a strong economy. Owner Hayley Johnson and her bakery were also featured in a recent Suncoast News article, detailing her journey from the Navy to MSNBC to a feature in Glamour magazine. Stop in and try her chocolates, cookies, and baked goods.
