Spend MLK Day Honoring Victims of Gun Violence |
Join in honoring the memory and teachings of Martin Luther King Jr and Virginians killed by gun violence on Monday, January 15. The Virginia Center for Public Safety hosts a vigil at the Virginia State Capitol Bell Tower at 2 p.m., followed by advocacy meetings with Virginia General Assembly members from 3 to 5 p.m. The Justice and Advocacy Ministry of Presbytery of the James invites you to join them at these events.
Meet at Second Presbyterian, 5 N. 5th St, at 1:30 p.m. to walk to the Capitol. Those who live in the Charlottesville area are invited to join a bus organized by the Charlottesville Coalition for Gun Violence Prevention. Learn about parking at Second and reserving a seat on the bus on the presbytery's website.

Learn How to Respond to Youth Mental Health Needs | Camp Hanover invites church staff and volunteers who work with youth to a free two-day training on mental health first aid. Learn how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. The class is taught by the Hanover County Behavioral Health Wellness Team at Camp Hanover on Tuesday, January 30, and Thursday, February 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. | |
Candlelight Carol Service
Grace Covenant Church in Richmond will hold their 92nd annual candlelight carol service on December 17 at 5:00 p.m. Enjoy a service of lessons and carols led by the chancel choir, handbell choir, junior choir, and soloists of Grace Covenant. Childcare provided. Reception to follow.

Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is collaborating with three United Methodist Churches for a community Christmas service on December 31 at 11:00 a.m. The service will conclude with the Lord's Supper.
