The Taste of Marseilles is coming:
If you are interested in participating in the Taste of Marseilles please

For the Taste of Marseilles, we are inviting local restaurants, food vendors, bakeries, and businesses to participate. Two large tents will be set up to host participants. Each participant will be provided: 

+ One 8-foot folding table 
+ A sign with your business name 
+ Access to shared tables and chairs for guests 

There is no cost to participate. In return, we ask each food vendor to provide one complimentary “taste” item for attendees. Vendors are also welcome to sell full lunches, food items, or specialties during the event.

We are ready to move forward with planning and need to know who is interested in participating. Please let me know by June 15th whether you plan to participate. If you have any questions, feel free to text or call Kathy Rosengren at 815-883-0235.

Brownfield Grant Update

As part of the City's Brownfield Grant program to address potential environmental concerns at Washington School and the former Nabisco property, Fehr Graham will begin an on-site inspection of the Nabisco building on June 15. The assessment is expected to take several days to complete.


Knudson Park Improvements

The City is exploring an application for an OSLAD grant to replace and upgrade the aging playground equipment at Knudson Park and add additional park amenities. Much of the current equipment is original to the park, and some pieces are no longer repairable.

Community Development Block Grant.

The City submitted its Strong Communities Community Development Block Grant application, requesting $40,000 to fund the demolition of abandoned and dilapidated properties throughout the community.

There is a free community lunch this month is June 20th 11 AM to 1 PM. It is sponsored by Baker Insurance Agency. The lunch will be held at the Marseilles Community Center 850 West Bluff Street. The menu is BLT/Club Sandwich, pasta salad, chips and dessert. The next free lunch will be July 18th hosted by the Marseilles Nursing Service. If you know someone in need of a good meal, please let them know about this event. 

The following items have been requested by the Marseilles Food Pantry. As part of the annual Friendly Church Competition, donations may be dropped off at the participating church of your choice. Your support helps provide essential items to local families in need.

June 14: spreads like peanut butter, jelly, honey, marshmallow spread, etc.

June 21: snacks like pudding, jello, fruit snacks, etc.

June 28: breakfast items like cereal, pancake mix, etc.

July 5: syrup

July 12: fruit & vegetables cans or individual cups

July 19: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, dressings etc.

July 26: spaghetti o's 

August 2: soups

August 9: pasta and sauces

August 16: Mac n cheese

The Gold Cart Trophy (shown below) is back at the Food Pantry for the summer. First Baptist Church has playfully said, “You’ll just have to bring it back!” Who do you think will take it this year?Will First Baptist make it four in a row? Over the years, the trophy has been held by three churches: St. Joseph’s, United Methodist, and First Baptist. First Baptist has held it for the past three consecutive years. Let the friendly competition continue!
