--
The Jewish Fast Day of Tisha B’Av begins at sundown on Saturday, August 6th. In general, we do not encourage our youngest campers to fast, so we want you to know that there will be no disruption to their normal eating schedule due to communal observance of the fast day. Additionally, in order to accommodate families who wish to participate in daily minyanim at home, we have shifted our pick-up time on Sunday to 12:30 EDT. In the morning, our campers will have time to participate in some closing rituals to the Taste experience before parent arrival.
Packing and Preparation:
Please find a packing list specific to Taste of Ramah here. It is important to pack with your children so campers are familiar with the items they are bringing to camp, and know where to find them. Keep in mind the items your individual child needs AND please do your best to stick to the recommended items so that campers can best manage their own belongings.
Tzevet (counselors) will help campers unpack upon arrival. Please pack bedding on top so beds can be made easily.
As you begin to think about the actual items that your camper will pack, we also encourage you to consider steps that you can take now to help your child prepare for a successful summer. Our Camper Readiness Guide has information about our program and structure, as well as helpful suggestions regarding skills to practice that encourage independence and collaboration in the camp environment. Look for additional camper readiness resources in future monthly newsletters.
Final COVID-19 details, including protocols and additional items required by campers, will be shared closer to the start of camp.
We can’t wait to welcome your campers to Ramah Poconos on August 1st! Please reach out to Rachael Abrams, Director of Camper Care and Staff Development, with any questions.
