Shabbat Shalom!
Dear Tavor Family,

As many of you know, Evan and I welcomed our baby Raviv into the world in late November of 2018 and are just now emerging from our awe-inspiring “4th Trimester.” I am grateful for the opportunity to take time to be with my family during this transition and thrilled to be back in the warm embrace of the Camp Tavor community as we continue our work planning a transformative summer.

These past few months have underscored the importance of community as our friends and family have supported us through cooking nourishing meals, cleaning, and sharing used baby gear and clothes. Now more than ever, I am grateful to be a part of the Tavor community and proud to support our work helping young people understand the importance of community building, “kvutzah”, caring for and taking responsibility for one another.

Just as we take responsibility for one another at “machane” (camp) through “avodah” (work) and “kupah” (sharing), today’s heartbreaking news of the massacres in Christchurch, New Zealand reminds us to care for and take responsibility for our Muslim brothers and sisters. We are reminded of the need to work in partnership with our Muslim friends, neighbors, family, and allies to dream of and build a more just and peaceful world.

This Shabbat, please reach out to your Muslim friends and neighbors and share love, support, and community. Recall the incredible solidarity demonstrated in the wake of the Tree of Life massacre and consider expressing grief and solidarity by  supporting the families of the victims of these massacres with a donation .

Wishing you a peaceful and community-filled Shabbat.
Shabbat Shalom,

Amit Weitzer
Executive Director

Meet Mazkirut
Hi! I'm Ariel Hasak-Lowy and I will be the Rakezet Chinuch (Programming Coordinator) for this summer at Tavor!

I have mainly grown up in Evanston, IL and have been going to Tavor since I was in the 5th grade in 2008.

I am a Sophomore at Macalester College, majoring in American Studies and Educational Studies.

Tavor has shaped my life in so many ways and I am so excited to help shape this summer with Mazkirut and the rest of Tzevet!

The theme of the summer is curiosity!

I have found myself so drawn to spending time with youth, I love the questions they ask and how imaginative they can be,

I hope to use this youthful spirit to help create the best summer yet!
