Tzevet (staff) and Madatz (Counselors-in-Training) are eagerly awaiting the kickoff of Second Session this Sunday!!!

We’re thrilled to welcome new and returning chanichimot (campers) with world-class mosquito netting, grilled cheese, and a healthy dose of social justice chinuch (education). We're also so proud of our new Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) verification of our chava (farm).

We’re excited to build community through creative projects, fun games, swimming, and peulot (experimental education).

I feel grateful for the incredible, hardworking people I get to build the summer with!

We’re off to a great start, and I look forward to keeping in touch throughout Second Session.

Summer of Curiosity

Shabbat Shalom! My name is Ariel and I am the Rakezet Chincuh (Director of Programming) for this summer.

I had the pleasure of creating the tochnit which is the guiding educational curriculum for the summer.

There is always a theme that guides the arc. When thinking about what the theme of the summer would be for the summer, I tried to think of all the amazing ways machaneh is unique.

The energy it has and the inspiration youth bring is the reason I believe machaneh is the way it is.

The theme of this summer is curiosity.

With all the energy and passion that tzevet brings to chanichimot, we are focusing on the power of questioning ourselves and the societies we live in.

The programming of the summer has been shaped by listening to kid’s desires and tapping into the passion of tzevet.

The whole day is shaped and planned by tzevet. Zman Chadash (Skill Share) and Zman Omanut (Art Time) are programs that have different options of art related activities and new skills. During Peulat Schivah (Age Group Activity) tzevet plans and facilitates activities for their age group based on the theme of the day.

We are engaging in topics that are relevant in our society today that range from gender to Judaism. It has been an absolute joy to work with tzevet to create an amazing summer filled with engaging and energizing programming for the chanichimot!

Chava Happenings

Just this week, Camp Tavor has been verified by the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP).

MAEAP Verified farms are recognized by the state of Michigan for following all laws having to do with agriculture practices, as well as all GAAMP's in Michigan (Generally Accepted Agricultural Management Practices.)

As a reward for demonstrating a commitment to being environmental stewards, MAEAP farmers also receive legal protections from the state, and other benefits including prioritized access to cost share money for projects such as hoop houses and green houses.

BUT, for Tavor, this means something different. The real value in this for camp is the demonstration that we are raising generations of kids who care about agriculture and doing it the right way.
