Rosh Report

Hello!

Reporting LIVE from Machaneh Tavor, Three Rivers, Michigan. Tzevet arrived last week, and everyone is working together to set up machaneh! We’re SO excited for another amazing summer!!!!
So far, we’ve set up 16 ohelim (tents), 4 tzrifim (cabins), the chadar (dining area), the docks in the chof (beach), the chemu (music room), and the Beit Omanut (art room)!

We’ve planned so many fun activities, theme days, and scavenger hunts. The chava (farm) specialists introduced 10 chickens into our community last night, and they laid eggs this morning!!

Currently, we’re mowing the lawn, cleaning the pool, and Tzevet Mitbach (kitchen staff) are busy preparing for Shabbat dinner! Tonight, we’re looking forward to celebrating Shabbat with our local community partners from Corey Lake Orchard’s (Hubbard’s) and Three Rivers.

We hope they’ll stick around for Rikud (Israeli dancing) and maybe even midnight basketball! Beyond the immediate avodah and Shabbat festivities, we’re eager to welcome all of the first session chanichimot to Tavor on Monday!!!!

Shabbat shalom and hope to see you soon!!

Shabbat Message
Shabbat Shalom Tavor Families,

After nearly a year of reflection, growth, training, and planning, we can't believe we're so close to welcoming all our chanichimot (campers) to Camp Tavor for a summer of playfulness, adventure, learning, and meaningful Jewish community building. We are brimming with excitement for the first day of machane (camp).

At Camp Tavor, we strive to build a vibrant community rooted in inclusion and justice. As we prepare for our session together, we are asking for your partnership in our work to build an inclusive and just community this summer.

As we prepare for Shabbat, please to take a few moments to review our social justice values and some of the policies, practices, and programs that we integrate into the summer. We ask for your partnership in talking through these expectations with your children and invite you to reach out to our camp team if you have any questions.

Thank you for taking some time to reflect on these values and practices. Camp is a uniquely trans-formative opportunity for young people to cultivate the self-confidence and skills to help create a more just and peaceful world. We look forward to building and growing and learning with you this summer!

Shabbat Shalom,

Amit Weitzer, Executive Director
