Friend,
The Democratic Party has made its choice: Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit is their choice for Attorney General.
I want to be clear about something right from the start. I welcome this race. I look forward to a healthy debate that gives Michigan voters a clear contrast on our beliefs, our records, and our vision for this office.
Because that contrast could not be more important.
In just the past few days, reports have shown that Mr. Savit used taxpayer-funded resources, including a government gas card, to cover travel tied to his campaign for higher office.
That is not a gray area. That is a mindset.
Public office is a public trust. Taxpayer dollars are not a personal expense account.
I have spent my career as a prosecutor understanding that responsibility. As Attorney General, I will be a careful and accountable steward of every dollar entrusted to that office, because it belongs to the people of Michigan, not the politicians who temporarily hold power.
But here is the reality we are facing.
Mr. Savit will have the full backing of a well-funded political machine, national donors, and a network that knows how to protect its own.
We are not going to outspend them.
We are going to outwork them, but we still need the resources to compete.
That means building a campaign strong enough to reach voters across Michigan, share this message, and make sure people understand what is at stake in this election.
If you believe taxpayer dollars should be treated with respect, and that Michigan deserves an Attorney General who understands that, then I am asking you to stand with me today.
Please consider contributing whatever you can to help us take on Eli Savit and win.
This race is about trust. And I intend to earn it.
Thank you,
Doug Lloyd
