Tax Day has been moved to May 17th
The IRS has extended tax season for individuals. Taxpayers do not need to file any forms or call the IRS to qualify for this automatic federal tax filing and payment relief.
What does that mean for Jellison CPA clients?
We will continue to work hard to get your return completed in a timely fashion. We realize that there are taxpayers who are expecting refunds and need those refunds now more than ever. We are experiencing delays as a result of the recent changes, but please be assured that we are working on your returns.

If your return has already been completed & e-filed, now what?
If you owe with your return, then you have until May 17th to make the payment. Nothing else needs to be done.

Please be aware that penalties, interest and additions to tax will begin to accrue on unpaid balances as of May 17th, 2021.

If your return has been completed, but it has not yet been e-filed, now what?
Please return your signature forms & our payment for services to us ASAP so we can e-file your return. If we e-file prior to April 15th, you still have until May 17th to make your tax payment.

What about the Michigan return?
As of this moment, nothing official has been released, but we expect states to follow suit and move the due date to May 17th.

What about 1041 and 1120 returns?
The IRS did not extend the filing deadline for these returns.

Do you need more time to get your information submitted to Jellison CPA?
No problem! You have until April 16th to provide us with your 2020 tax documentation.

Reminder: If you collected unemployment in 2020 and meet the qualifications outlined in the American Rescue Plan Act, we are unable to complete your return at this time. We are waiting for further guidance from the IRS and our software company. We will notify you as soon as we are able to finalize your return.

That being said, please be sure to provide your documentation prior to our deadline so that we can determine your eligibility for the unemployment tax waiver.
