Dear international students and scholars,
First, we hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! It has come to our attention that you might need additional support to meet your U.S. tax filing obligations for 2019. The Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) has partnered with a 3rd party company called Sprintax. They will help you “file your taxes” for 2019. Even if you did not receive income in the U.S. in 2019, you must submit a tax form to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to report that you did not have any income.
To help you navigate the process, we’ve arranged two steps for students in the Khbrat program to work directly with Sprintax.
- On Monday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. Sprintax will host a webinar training to help you understand the process and ask your questions directly to the tax professionals. You can access the webinar on your computer, tablet or smartphone by following this link: https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/381841405
- When you are ready to file your taxes (due date is July 15), you can use the OISS tax page to get started. There you will find the link to visit Sprintax where you can create an account and enter your tax-related information. Sprintax has created a unique code only for Khbrat students at the ELI. The code will waive the fees for the Federal Form 8843 for you plus 3 dependents (spouses and children). If you have been instructed by Sprintax to file Form 8843, please use the code SpX19UoDE50F to waive the fees for yourself plus up to 3 dependents.
Please feel free to prepare any questions you may have for the tax professionals at Sprintax. Please also remember that filing federal income tax forms is the personal responsibility of each international student and scholar.
OISS advisors and other staff members are not tax experts. We can refer you to relevant resources but cannot help prepare tax documents or answer tax-related questions.
Thank you,
The OISS Team
