Tay Township News & Notes
| |
April reminded us all of the importance of being prepared for the unexpected. The ice storm and power outage earlier this month served as a clear reminder of how quickly conditions can change. Emergencies can happen at any time, and I encourage all residents to take time to review their emergency preparedness plans. One important step is completing the Tay Township Accessibility and Functional Needs Registry. This information helps public safety responders, including police, fire, and EMS, know if someone at your address may need extra assistance during an emergency. To learn more, please visit tay.ca/fire.
Despite the challenging start to the month, April was filled with community spirit and action. We began by raising flags at the Municipal Office in recognition of BeADonor Month and Autism Awareness Day. These events highlighted the strength of our community and our shared commitment to inclusivity and awareness.
Throughout the month, residents and community groups also joined together to take part in clean-up efforts across the Township. A big thank you to all groups who rolled up their sleeves and participated. Together we are building a more resilient and proud community.
As we look ahead, our local community groups have been busy organizing a variety of events to enjoy throughout the spring and summer. I encourage everyone to check tay.ca/events regularly for the latest updates. Registration for our popular Tay Summer Camp and TOTS Soccer programs opens on May 2 at 8:30 a.m. To view program details and secure your spot, visit tay.ca/register. Spaces fill quickly, so be sure to sign up early!
Until next time, Mayor Ted Walker twalker@tay.ca.
