Tay Township News & Notes

August 2024

Message from the Mayor

As summer draws to a close and our children prepare to head back to school, I want to take a moment to reflect on the amazing summer we’ve enjoyed here in Tay Township. It’s been a time filled with activity and camaraderie, and I’m excited to see what the new school year brings for our students and their families.

I’m thrilled to share that our Tee Off With Tay, Inaugural Mayor's Charity Golf Tournament, held on August 16th, was a tremendous success. We raised $65,000, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of golfers, dinner guests, volunteers, sponsors, and our dedicated staff. Your support and involvement made this event a remarkable achievement. Please stay tuned for more information on the success and results of this tournament in the coming weeks.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our summer students. We have been fortunate to have you as part of #TeamTay, and your contributions have been greatly valued. Best wishes as you head back to school—your efforts this summer have not gone unnoticed! Remember if you are interested in joining #TeamTay as a summer student be sure to check out tay.ca/jobs for more information.

Also, at the end of August our Tay Township Council and Senior Leadership Team took time to celebrate our amazing hard working and dedicated #TeamTay staff members at the Annual Staff Appreciation Event, held at the Tay Community Rink. Special thanks to the Victoria Harbour Lions Club, for preparing a delicious BBQ, and to staff who had fun playing lawn games, mini putt and a friendly game of softball. It was a great afternoon full of #TeamTay spirit!

Dog Tag Reminder!

Be a responsible pet owner and learn more about the licensing and control of dogs within the Township.

Tay Township has a two-dog limit and dogs are required to be immunized against rabies. Multi-year tags are available only for dogs with current valid immunization. Proof of up-to-date immunization and a completed application form are required before a tag will be issued.

Why license your dog?

  • If your dog is lost or involved in an emergency, a license provides information needed to contact you.
  • Lost dogs are returned home faster and spend less time in our care.
  • It is a legal requirement, and you could be fined without a dog license.

For more information regarding canine control and dog tags please contact our Municipal Law Enforcement Team at 705-534-7248 and press option 2 or via email mleo@tay.ca.

Don't Forget Your 2024 Fire Permit!

Tay Township requires that property owners obtain a fire permit before proceeding with any outdoor fires.

Fire permits, good for the calendar year, can be obtained online, or in person at the municipal office during regular office hours Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
