Tay Township News & Notes
| |
As we embrace the beauty of May with blooming flowers and warmer days, our Tay community is buzzing with excitement and activities.
Our dedicated Tay Township Operations Staff have been hard at work preparing our parks for the upcoming season. From opening seasonal park washrooms to ensuring our parks, trails, and sporting fields are clean and ready for enjoyment, their efforts are greatly appreciated.
I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to the volunteers and committee members who made the Portarama Family Festival a huge success over the May long weekend. Your dedication and long hours ensured a weekend filled with fun activities for all. And let's not forget the breathtaking 17-minute fireworks display that lit up our skies – truly spectacular!
During National Public Works Week (May 19th to 25th) we celebrated the essential role of our Operations Team, who continue to go above and beyond to provide the community with front-line services that safeguard and enhance the quality of life in our Township. To express our gratitude, we hosted a special breakfast on May 22nd. Then on May 25th, community members had the opportunity to experience the exciting world of Public Works up close at our "Meet the Fleet" event. Perhaps you left your mark on our snowplow during the “Sign a Plow” event? Or enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch provided by the Victoria Harbour Royal Canadian Legion? It is events like these that bring us together and allow us to show our appreciation for the services that keep our Township running smoothly.
Looking ahead, mark your calendars for Tay Blooms on June 1, Tay Bike Day on June 15, and the Tay Canada Day celebrations on June 28th and 29th. For a full list of events and activities taking place in our community this summer please visit tay.ca/events.
Until next time, Mayor Ted Walker twalker@tay.ca.
