Tay Township News & Notes

November 2024

Message from the Mayor

As we welcome the holiday season, I’d like to take a moment to share a few updates as we wrap up November. This time of year, offers so many opportunities to connect, reflect, and celebrate our wonderful community.

During Veterans’ Week, November 5 to 11, I had the privilege of attending several events to honour the sacrifices of our veterans and those currently serving. Their bravery reminds us of the freedoms we enjoy, and I’m grateful for the chance to pay tribute to them.

With the holiday season upon us, it’s a great time to embrace traditions, enjoy family moments, and create lasting memories. I hope you’re finding joy in the season’s magic.

One fun way to get into the holiday spirit is by staying active! I encourage you to check out the free public skating and shinny at the Tay Community Rink. It's a perfect opportunity to get some fresh air and have fun with family and friends. For schedules and availability, visit tay.ca/rinks.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the recent Toy & Food Drive, in partnership with the Tay Fire Department, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Port McNicoll Lions Club. Your generosity helps brighten the holidays for families in need.

A special thank you to the volunteers, participants, and spectators who made the Waubaushene Santa Claus Parade on November 24th such a memorable event. Whether you marched in the parade, cheered from the sidelines, or helped behind the scenes, your enthusiasm helped create a truly magical day for our community.

The holiday festivities continue with the Port McNicoll Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony taking place on Sunday, December 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A reminder that this event has changed locations and will take place at the Tay Community Rink. It’s a wonderful tradition, and I look forward to celebrating with you there! For more information visit tay.ca/events.

As winter approaches, please remember that Winter Parking regulations are now in effect, review all the details by visiting tay.ca/winterparking. We appreciate your cooperation. You are helping make the Township snow clearing safer, more efficient and effective.

Until next time, Mayor Ted Walker twalker@tay.caa
