As May unfolds, we look forward to celebrating student achievements, honoring dedicated teachers, and wrapping up another successful school year. Read all about it in the May edition of Chieftain Connection. | |
Dear Chieftain Community,
May is a meaningful month across our district. It brings signs of a school year winding down, the excitement of student celebrations, and the pride that comes with seeing progress and growth in every classroom.
One of the most important moments we mark in May is Teacher Appreciation Week. While a single week will never be enough to fully honor the dedication of our teachers, it gives us a chance to pause and say thank you. Our educators pour their time, talent, and heart into helping students thrive, not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Their work truly shapes the future, and we are so grateful for the impact they make each day.
As we look ahead to the final days of school, I hope you'll join us in celebrating the accomplishments of our students, the hard work of our staff, and the strong sense of community that makes this district special.
Sincerely,
Christy Bosch, Superintendent
Logan-Hocking Schools

Third Grade
Third graders in Mrs. Garey and Ms. Budzik's class created memory books, writing and illustrating their favorite moments from the year. Mrs. Spackey's students wrapped up state testing and celebrated their hard work by watching "The One and Only Ivan," comparing the movie to the book with snacks in hand. Mrs. Vollmer's class authored and illustrated books titled "How to Be a Cool Third-Grader," highlighting qualities like kindness, confidence, and creativity.

Fourth graders were just as busy. Mrs. Craig's class reviewed math through games and challenges, and even started learning Sudoku. Mrs. Hunter's students explored hands-on science experiments using the new FOSS curriculum to separate mixtures. Lead & Achieve
Green Elementary students have been hard at work this grading period. So many students leveled up on Lexia that Principal Hubert handed out all the dog tags she had on hand and had to order more! Green classrooms also exceeded their schoolwide goal by hitting 55 class achievements, five more than required. The reward? A Wild About Goals Spirit Day and a "Tat the Teacher" event, where students get to pick temporary tattoos for teachers to wear.
