Dorothy Goldwin Speaks

with Mustangs about

Holocaust Survivors!

Dorothy Goldwin was born and raised in Memphis by two Polish Jewish parents. Her parents were both in concentration camps in Germany during WWII and met afterwards in a Displaced Persons Camp. Afterwards, they moved to Memphis to start a new life for their family. Dorothy grew up in Memphis and attended White Station High School. Both of her parents dedicated much of their time to teaching local students about the Holocaust and after their deaths in the last few years, Dorothy has begun to do the same. She presents across the Mid South and works with Facing History and Ourselves to ensure that her parent's, and millions of other holocaust survivor's, legacies are honored and we root out violence in our current day society.

We are in the middle of budget season and our School Board will be hosting a set of information and input sessions next week throughout the community. During this meeting School Board Members and members of the Shelby County School leadership team will share information about the current budget priorities and investments. They will also be asking for your input about specific programs and services that we should prioritize to ensure we are providing the best education experience for our students. The budget process is very important; therefore,I am personally inviting you to attend and share your opinion. We will also have refreshments and activities for the children.

Boys Soccer Team Made it to the

District Championship!

The boys soccer team worked hard this season and is on their journey to state! This will be the first time in East history that the soccer team is in the tournament. Come out and support the Mighty Mustangs as they take on Raleigh Egypt Tuesday, May 7th at Melrose Stadium at 5:30.

U of M Girls Experiencing Engineering - Applications NOW OPEN

Spotlight of the Week

Dr. Mojisola Omotunde

Dr Omotunde teaches science and loves it! She has taught at East High School for a total of 6 years. She graduated from the University of Memphis and from Union University. She enjoys reading and making crafts from recycled objects. Her quiet demeanor is matched only by her kindness and willingness to work hard behind the scenes to help our school. She works the concessions stand at almost every game and loves East- ABSOLUTELY!
