Meet the HCCF Summer Intern

Kathryn Perry is a graduate of Shenandoah High School. She's currently studying Business Administration and Graphic Design at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

We're excited to have Kathryn join our team for the summer! Keep an eye out for more on Kathryn in the next newsletter.

Stop by our open house on May 18th and meet her in person!

Check out these two books by New Castle natives and community supporters. Doug Morris and Dr. Charles Modlin both grew up in Henry County and have written memoirs to share their stories and encourage others. While we haven't been able to read the books yet, we love to see our donors thriving and succeeding!

Triing: A Journey of discovery, challenges, and camaraderie while racing in 50 States and the continents beyond.
This book is a memoir about FVSRA parent, Doug Morris' professional and personal journey that intertwined sports, family, and business across a span of 30 years. The family pieces in the book focus heavily on his daughters' abilities, instead of disabilities even though influenced by AHC. It's a motivational read for any parents, siblings, professionals in the field, or volunteers with special needs relatives or friends.

As a renowned kidney transplant surgeon and one of a small number of African Americans to hold such a title, Dr. Charles Modlin has overcome enormous odds, roadblocks, and trials. In his book, It Isn't Difficult to Do It if You Know How to Do It, he provides an extensive compilation of the successful strategies used to overcome challenges and accomplish his goals in hopes of encouraging high school students and college students whose ambition is to succeed in life.

Technology Grant from HCCF Helps Equip Local Nonprofit

The grant given to Cerebral Palsy of Henry County was made possible through the Charles and Phyllis States Endowment Fund. When donors started this fund nearly 20 years ago, they had no way of knowing exactly what the fund would do in Henry County. But they gave in confidence with the understanding that this gift would continually make a difference for years and years to come.

Two Great Schools, One Future Scholarship

Thanks to Legacy Donors

“With the teacher shortage, I hope that this scholarship will inspire students to pursue education and dedicate their love for teaching to the students. I love that the scholarship will support both schools because they both meant so much to us. We really need good teachers, and I want to continue building the idea that a degree in education is a valuable goal.”
