November 2022
Autumn is upon us and filled with amazing color. I hope you are enjoying the brisk mornings. Please take time this month to support one another, celebrate your successes and participate in self care. Enjoy time with family and friends throughout this beautiful season. November is a time to be thankful. As you share this season with your students, take time to reflect. I am thankful for the opportunity I have to work with amazing educators who truly make a difference.

Requirements & Deadlines
Year 1 - Fall Cohort
Learning Logs Be sure to enter logs each week, click on the learning logs and enter details about the time you are spending supporting your candidate(s).

Cells 1-3 of the ILP were due November 1.

Due January 1
Cells 4-5 of the ILP
CSTP Cycle 1 - Be sure to review all 6 Standards by clicking on the CSTP pages in your portal. You only need to choose 2 elements from each standard to enter supporting evidence.
Mentor Observation #2
Year 2 - Fall Cohort
Cells 1-5 of ILP number two and cycle 2 of the CSTP were due November 1.

Due January 1
Cells 6-8 of ILP cycle 2
Mentor Observation #2
Year 2 - Spring Cohort
ILP #3 and CSTP #3 Both documents are due December 1. All learning logs are due December 15.

Professional Learning
Workshops provided by the MCOE Teacher Induction Program are offered at no additional cost to Candidates and Mentors in our program. Units are available for an additional fee. If you are not able to attend a meeting that you signed up for, be sure to notify us of your cancelation.
Equity and Access
Explore the creation of a learning environment where the needs of the whole child are attended too. Topics include: Caring for the Caregiver, A deeper Look Into the Life of a Foster Student, Culturally Responsive Teachers, Culturally Responsive Classrooms, Meeting the Needs of Special Education Students. Classroom Organization and Management (COMP)
Classroom Management is the key to success as a teacher. The Spring series of COMP workshops will be held in person in beautiful downtown Merced on Thursday evenings starting in March. Register through your candidate portal under trainings. Candidate Portal

The professional development at the link below is offered outside of MCOE Teacher Induction Program. The program will cover up to $150 of the cost of trainings (one time each year). If you register please be sure to put Teacher Induction in the payment category. We will verify your participation in our program.

New Offerings Each Month
Executive Order Candidates
Teachers with a TPA or RICA renewal codes are considered Executive Order(EO) candidates. EO candidates are required to either 1) attend EO meetings OR 2) attend training on the required assessment. If you are receiving support from some other source please email Karla Paul so that your required meeting can be marked as satisfied.

RICA Support
Synchronous (virtual) RICA support classes available for each of the RICA subtests.

Asynchronous RICA prep course available. If you participate in this course it meets the requirements for EO meetings. When you receive the email verifying your enrollment please forward it to Jennifer Register Here

Executive Order Meetings - Please register for the EO meetings if you have not already provided a response to the survey indicating what support you will be participating in.

Candidates
Mid Year Check

Mid Year Check meetings begin this month. Please be sure that you and your mentor sign up for the same meeting. You can register through your portal under trainings.
Mentors
Be sure to register for a Mid Year Check with your candidate. Also please take time this month to have a conversation with your candidate about the Phases of New Teachers. We are heading into the survival phase and sometimes knowing that everyone goes through this helps. Here is a link to the graphic.
