Meet our Dream Team
Monica Martin

Monica Martin is the Director for the Office of Grants, Economic and Workforce Development. Ms. Martin holds degrees in Behavioral Science and Education/Counseling. Her career has taken her to roles in the mortgage banking industry, mental health, non-profits, career development, K-12 as well as county and state positions. Ms. Martin has served as Director of the MBA Career Center and managed internship programs at University of California, Irvine and University of California, Riverside.  She has also worked with programs at CalTech and other community colleges. In her current role Ms. Martin manages grants and funding sources for a variety of projects such as the Teacher Pathway Program, Perkins, Strong Workforce, OC Pathways and Career Education. Ms. Martin is a believer in whole person counseling, empowering not enabling but providing students the tools to achieve realistic career goals. She is also a mentor and advocate for new student affairs professionals. 

Sandra Chavez

Sandra serves as an Administrative Assistant for the Office of Grants, Economic and Workforce Development, she ensures the office operation runs smoothly. Sandra was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Creighton University (Omaha, NE) in 2006. Soon after she attended the University of Notre Dame (South Bend, IN) and earned her Master of Theological Studies in 2008, specializing in the History of Early Christianity. That fall, she moved to the Bay Area to attend the Graduate Theological Union (Berkeley, CA), an affiliate of the University of California, Berkeley and earned an additional Master of Arts specializing in Late Roman Antiquity in 2015. After her second Master's degree, she realized she was better suited to work on the administrative side of education. Sandra decided to pursue this avenue to serve students since she enjoys working on college campuses. She came to us in Southern California by way of Cal State San Bernardino and more recently Cal State Fullerton. In her spare time, Sandra enjoys attending concerts, going to the movies, listening to music and returning to Omaha to visit family.

Joseph Ramirez

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Joe Ramirez works as a Senior Research and Planning Analyst in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Fullerton College. Each day, his goal is to provide actionable, accurate, and useful information that advances student success. He supports the Teacher Pathway Program by designing surveys, organizing information, and analyzing data that relate to students' experiences with TPP-from students' initial enrollment to successful completion of their educational goals. He earned an A.B. in anthropology at Princeton University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in higher education at the University of California, Los Angeles. 

Brian Fort 

Brian serves as the Teacher Pathway Resource Coordinator. Among his duties are coordinating events, publications, and he participates in the design and writing of bulletins, brochures, flyers, and other materials to publicize the work of the Teacher Pathway Program. He participates in the creation of this very newsletter while also managing the website for the office. He is a proud graduate of Fullerton College with a certificate in Illustration and an AA-T. His college career has taken him to various campuses and worked in a variety of different fields. Brian is experienced is graphic design, Illustration, and web design. Previously Brian was a Student Ambassador for Fullerton College.
