The underrepresentation of African American men in education not only negatively affects students of color, but all students who enter the classroom. The Secure the Chalk Educator Fellowship is a professional membership and activist organization dedicated to advancing the recruitment, development and retention of Black male educators in schools throughout the Greater Memphis Area. The fellowship aligns with Priority 3 of the  African American Male Empowerment  campaign. The next meeting is Nov. 21 , 6:30 p.m., at The Pocket (115 Union Ave.).

Qualifying Areas for Content Portfolio Requirement:
  • Fine Arts (K-12)
  • HPELW (Grades 2 & 5)
  • Kindergarten
  • Pre-Kindergarten
  • World Language (Spanish & French)

Failure to submit a portfolio shall result in an incomplete evaluation record for the school year, and no level of overall effectiveness (LOE) shall be calculated.

Looking to get documents translated for foreign language speakers at your school? Hosting a parent event and need language interpretation support? The SCS ESL Department has you covered! If your school or department is ever in need of translations or live translators, let them know by completing the translation request form in advance of your project. Translation support is available in multiple languages, including Spanish, Vietnamese, French and Arabic.

Our nonprofit partners who often host field trips for SCS students are working to gather some important information that will make scheduling field trips easier for both teachers and our nonprofit partners. Please take a moment to let our partners know how we can work together to improve field trip practices and make these opportunities more accessible to your students.
