Teacher files law suit against Evanston public schools for its racist policies
"Whiteness is a bad deal" and other race-based
curriculum leads to federal lawsuit.
Lawyers for Evanston public school drama teacher Stacy Deemar filed a lawsuit in federal court Tuesday stating: "This is an action brought under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to prohibit Evanston/Skokie School District 65 (“District 65”) from treating individuals differently because of their race."

It's tragic that it takes a lawsuit to enforce federal non-discrimination law, but three cheers to Stacey Deemar for doing it. We know that hundreds of other teachers in Evanston are quietly (no doubt fearfully) congratulating her, and we hope that Stacy's actions will embolden others to speak out!
