BFA Guest Artist Paul Edmund-Davies

Paul Edmund-Davies is widely recognized for his work with the London Symphony Orchestra, where he held the position of Principal Flute for 20 years.  Throughout his tenure with the Orchestra, he performed on over 50 film score recordings, including:
Star Wars, Aliens, Braveheart, Harry Potter, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

His recent orchestral appointments include Principal Flute with the Philharmonia Orchestra in 2005 and Principal Flute with the English National Opera in 2011.
Teacher's Forum
Paul Edmund-Davies will work with students of all ages, from 6th grade up through college music majors.  Area flute teachers interested in exploring teaching techniques and advanced students interested in self-awareness & problem solving are invited to attend the workshop.

MAIN TOPIC:  The Language of Flute Performance -  Exploring musical expression and phrasing through the basics of sonority, articulation, finger technique and intervals.

DISCUSSION:  How to help students think about where they are going when they play.  All sound that comes out of your flute has to say something, especially when no one is listening!

Mr. Edmund-Davies displayed his masterful teaching at last year's masterclass at the Boston Flute Academy.   We are delighted to have him back at BFA while on his 2014 USA tour.  He brings insight, a fresh approach, and always a great sense of humor.
