How to file final reports and meet the July 31 deadline


For individual and organizational recipients of project and general operating support grants for the grant period, July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, the respective portal to file your final report is now open. You will be filing your report through RISCA's Foundant Grant Portal.


The deadline is July 31.

Mixed media artwork on display at the Atrium Gallery

Opening Reception is Thursday, Aug. 20

 

The current display in the Atrium Gallery at One Capitol Hill features mixed-media artworks created from hundreds of paintings made by both artists and non-artists during a series of workshops hosted by artist Cathren Housley, East Providence.

 

The Opening Reception is on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m., in the Atrium Gallery, first floor of the state’s Administration Building, One Capitol Hill, Providence. The reception is free and open to the public.

2 calls for installation at a psychiatric facility

Deadline is July 20


RISCA, in partnership with Eleanor Slater Hospital, Regan Unit, has two public art calls for a photographer and a composer to submit applications for a digital slideshow installation. The slideshow and accompanying music are to provide patients with a calming, art‑based alternative in activity and therapy spaces.


Only R.I. residents 18-years-old or older can apply. Undergraduate students are not eligible.


For the photography call, works should reflect seasonal change through landscapes, wildlife, coastal environments, gardens, parks, recognizable landmarks, etc.


For the music call, compositions should support a calm and therapeutic environment through ambient, atmospheric, or otherwise soothing instrumental compositions. Vocal music will not be considered.

Apply to join a directory of arts educators

Deadline is Aug. 1

 

Applications are now open for our directory of approved arts educators, known as the Teaching Artist Roster. The Roster, managed by CreativeGround, a program of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), is a list of teaching artists and arts organizations who have been reviewed by public panels and selected based on their mastery of an artistic discipline, and experience and training to work in educational settings.


The Roster is used as a public resource for educators and individuals looking to engage an artist for arts learning, residencies or programs. Projects funded through RISCA's Project Grants in Education are encouraged to work with artists on the Roster.


The deadline to apply is Aug. 1. Read more and apply.

RI250 Professional Development Art and Printmaking

 

During a printmaking workshop themed around America's 250th anniversary, hosted by RISCA's arts education program and RI250, more than 30 arts teachers from K-12 schools throughout the state learned selected printmaking techniques. Held at the Newport Art Museum, printmakers Andre Lee Bassuet and Lois Harada took charge of the workshop.


RI250 Professional Development Social Studies and Poetry

 

RISCA's arts education program and RI250 hosted a professional development session at the Newport Historical Society for K-12 arts teachers on the topic of our country's 250th anniversary. The workshop linked poetry to social studies standards and was held at the Newport Historical Society. April Brown, a poet and educator, led the workshop. About 15 arts teachers from throughout the state attended.


I Too Sing America: An America250 Call and Response


RISCA, in partnership with the Newport Historical Society, NEFA, and RI250 co-hosted, at the Great Friends Meeting House, Newport, a "fireside chat" about American identity, past, present and future. Harold Steward, Executive Director, NEFA, and Dr. Akeia de Barros Gomes, Director of the Center for Black History at the Newport Historical Society, led the discussion. In addition, R.I.'s Secretary of State Gregg Amore provided remarks. The event featured a poetry reading by the state's Poetry Out Loud champion, Astrid Jhonnieli Santos.


These projects were supported thanks to funding from the National Endowment for the Arts in support of statewide America250 programming.

Applications for NEA's Grants for Arts Projects are open

Deadline is July 9

 

Grants for Arts Projects, a major granting category for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), provides project-based funding for organizations. Activities funded through these grants foster and celebrate America’s artistic heritage and cultural legacy, and benefit from arts education at all stages of life.


Grants in the arts and health sector will also be supported. In addition, the NEA welcomes applications from first-time and returning applicants; from organizations serving rural, urban, suburban, and tribal communities of all sizes; and from organizations with small, medium, or large operating budgets.


Projects may take place in any part of the nation’s 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. jurisdictions. The deadline is July 9. Read the guidelines.

Military Families visit museums for free all summer

NEA’s Blue Star Museums program ends Sept. 1


Actively serving military members and their families can visit participating museums nationwide for free as part of the Blue Star Museums program, an initiative of the NEA and Blue Star Families (BSF) in collaboration with the Department of Defense.


In Rhode Island, the museums participating in the program include:


  • Bristol: Bristol Art Museum, Coggeshall Farm Museum, Herreshoff Marine Museum, and Linden Place.
  • Exeter: Tomaquag Museum.
  • Newport: International Tennis Hall of Fame, Naval War College Museum, Newport Art Museum, Newport Restoration Foundation, Sailing Museum and National Sailing Hall of Fame, Newport.
  • North Kingstown: Air National Guard (143d Airlift Wing).
  • Providence: The Museum at the John Brown House, Providence Children's Museum, RISD Museum.
  • Westerly, Living Sharks Museum.
  • Woonsocket: Museum of Work and Culture.
