First, I hope you are staying safe in the inclement weather, particularly on the road.
Meanwhile, on the road to the election, we are less than 100 days away. We really have to get down to business -- small and minority-owned businesses. Ensuring that these businesses can participate in the continued growth of the county is a focus of my campaign.
I believe the key to growing jobs is not attracting the big name, marquee value businesses (although we certainly welcome those if they fit the needs of our community!) They key is retaining and growing neighborhood retail and development in both our older and newer sections of the County. In my administration, we will develop a strategy that creates real options for all residents to live, work and play within the County's diverse communities.
For example, we have several metro stops located in our County. We need to look to the development of industry around those transit stops. This will provide the best of two worlds -- those who commute to work every day will be able to take advantage of convenient services, and those who wish to stay closer to home will have additional job opportunities.
While I believe it is necessary to explore opportunities for Prince George's County in all forms, ensuring that we have a voice and a stake in what happens in our community,
my goal is for our county to be self-sufficient, and self sustaining.
Join me in supporting a local business -- or two -- today!
