I am overwhelmed, honored, and, most of all, humbled by what I experienced at Martin's Crosswinds a few days ago. As I told the audience at the "1,000 Women for Alsobrooks" event, I thought the idea for the event sounded great, but I wasn't certain that I knew 1,000 people who would come to a lunch! Imagine my surprise when 1,200 women from across this region, from service providers to senators, came out to say that we share a vision for how Prince George's County can continue to move forward. I am still absolutely charged by your energy and inspired by your faith and commitment. I will continue to draw strength from you now, and on the road ahead.
If you were unable to attend the event, I know you were there in spirit. I feel the spirit of this County every day, when I am getting coffee, grocery shopping, attending church, and visiting you at your schools, homes and places of business. I may have seen you at the Hyattsville 132nd Anniversary Parade, and perhaps I talked with you at the Africans in Prince George’s County Town Hall.
Thank you all for believing in me, and thank you for being willing to share the responsibility of providing an excellent education to our children and keeping them safe, of making sure critical services are available to everyone who needs them, of building up the resources of our County and its residents and of making Prince George's County an exciting destination, just like Martin's Crosswinds was last week!
All my best,
