Dear Friends and Colleagues,
With what seems to be ongoing media reports about incidents of sexual misconduct in the workplace and other arenas, I know that you all have been extremely dismayed, as I have. As you know, I am a longtime advocate for victims of violence and mistreatment and have worked tirelessly on efforts to end violence here in our County. Therefore, this issue is of great concern to me.
In my role as Prince George’s County State’s Attorney, I support and uphold our County administration’s policies to foster a respectful and ethical workplace and to protect our employees from any form of harassment. The County has ongoing initiatives to promote a productive workplace culture, which have been quite successful. However, for those instances when our policies are violated, the County’s Office of Ethics and Accountability offers a 24-hour hotline that allows employees to confidentially report any wrongdoing they have experienced or witnessed.
As a candidate for our County’s highest office, I will make it my personal responsibility that everyone who works for or interacts with our administration continues to feel respected as professionals, and as human beings. And, something that has particularly stood out to me in the media stories about sexual harassment – I will make sure that everyone understands that no matter who is involved, if they feel disrespected or harmed in any way, they will be heard.
We deserve the very best for each other and from each other. I look forward to continuing to work with you all to make our entire County a place where people want to work, visit and live.
