Greetings friends and supporters:
I hope everyone had a chance to relax and refresh over the holiday weekend and I also hope you took time out to celebrate any special veterans in your life and all of our veterans and their families. They have given so much, with some paying the ultimate sacrifice, so we could live in a safe environment and enjoy the many freedoms we have.
While many of our veterans are able to resume their every day lives when they return home from their service, there are also many who are unable to. The emotional and physical stresses of their service has taken a toll on them, and we need to be there as a community to help them deal with whatever challenges they may face.
As I have said along the campaign trail, we aren't just going to invest in buildings, we are also going to invest in people and that includes our veterans. Our healthcare and community outreach efforts will focus on providing them with the services they need to transition back into their daily lives and deal with any health concerns, physical and mental, that they may have. They have voluntarily given so much to us and for us, we must step up if and when the time comes to help them.
This is just one of many community groups that I look forward to engaging as your County Executive and I look forward to talking with you more about this and many other issues over the next several months. While I will discuss various issues in the newsletter each month, please feel free to let me know if there is a specific issue or question you would like to hear from me and I will do my best to respond.
