Yesterday was Administrative Professionals Day, and you flooded our inbox with shoutouts for our outstanding office support team members. The Top 5 are below, and congratulations to our giveaway prize winner Becca Kreidler at West Early College!

5. " The North High School main office team -- Shelley, Ruben, Natalie, Alma and Grisel -- is amazing. Running a high school office is no joke, and they keep our school moving. They support families, train student assistants and help us with all our needs." --  Kate Berger, North High School

4. " I so appreciate my team, Krystie Warlum and Daphne Jolley. They welcome families, support teachers and patiently approach every day with a positive attitude." -- Shelby Dennis, Swigert International

3. " We are so lucky to have Ms. Teresa and Ms. Miriam in the front office at Palmer! They are always friendly, no matter what's happening. They are a steady, calm, kind presence that permeates the building. We would not be able to keep things running smoothly without them! " -- Caryn Pratt, Palmer Elementary

2. " The administrative team at Asbury, Stephanie and Teri, are two of the most hardworking, dedicated and thoughtful people. We flood them with questions every day, and they have a solution for every problem! They know every family and student, and constantly show their kindness to students who need some extra attention. They are the core of the school! " --
Nicki Fagan, Asbury Elementary
1. " Sylvia Rocha, the principal's secretary at West Early College, epitomizes our Shared Core Values. Her Accountability, Fun, Collaboration, and her commitment to Equity and putting Students First are rooted in her Integrity. She is always true to her word and true to her role as a teammate, an administrative professional and a part of the West Early College vision. Even among a cadre of incredible professionals, Sylvia shines." -- Becca Kreidler, West Early College

ICYMI: Classes are Cancelled on Friday, April 27
Due to significant anticipated teacher absences, DPS is cancelling all classes on Friday, April 27. (Innovation and charter schools can opt out of cancelling classes and decide to operate on a normal schedule.) This is still a working day for DPS staff, and teachers and others participating in the rally must work with their supervisor to take appropriate leave.

As we have been communicating with you, DPS has been working in partnership to press our state government to restore education funding to our schools. The Colorado Education Association (CEA) is planning a statewide rally of educators on Friday, April 27, to advocate for greater state funding and expects that many of our teachers will participate.

Please work with your team leaders to determine your priorities and assignments for the day. If you plan to participate in the rally, please work with your supervisor to secure the appropriate leave approval.
