Prevention is Key: Schedule Your Mammogram Today
|
|
|
|
Breast cancer awareness is incredibly important as early detection (often through screening) can catch the disease when it is most treatable. Routine mammograms can be one of the most important selfies you’ll take. It can spot potential problems sooner, giving you more treatment options. It's recommended that women ages 50 to 75 with average breast cancer risk receive a mammogram every one to two years. Women 75 and older should talk with their physician about the benefits and risks of continued screening.
To schedule a mammogram, contact your primary care physician or click here to find a site near you.

Tips to Keep Your Online Information Safe
|
|
|
|
October is National Cybersecurity Month! Follow these tips to ensure you’re creating a secure password:
-
Think passphrase, not password. DPS passwords must be a minimum of 12 characters. Turn your password into a passphrase by combining three unrelated words that mean something to you.
-
Do not reuse your passphrase for other online accounts (banking, social media, etc.).
- Use a password manager like 1Password, LastPass or BitWarden to keep a different password for every online account you have.
-
Watch this Beyond Passwords tutorial.
-
If you forget your DPS password, reset it at iforgot.dpsk12.org.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) information:
- DPS will be activating Cisco Duo MFA for all DPS applications in the near future.
-
Are you getting a new phone? Go to DUO Mobile New Phone to move your MFA.
-
Watch this Multi Factor Authentication tutorial.
- Pro Tip: Turn MFA on for all your personal online accounts under security preferences, especially banking and email.

Discover Your Interests Using “RIASEC” Codes
|
|
|
|
Have you heard of Holland’s “RIASEC” Codes? Each of us identify with the six personality types to different degrees: Realistic (R), Investigative (I), Artistic (A), Social (S), Enterprising (E) and Conventional (C). These help us understand what kind of work interests us most.
DPS students investigate their RIASEC through career exploration and Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAP) interest surveys, where students choose classes, clubs and extra-curricular experiences that align with their passions and help them belong!
To model the way for students, Dr. Marrero shared his top three codes:
-
Enterprising (E) - Leading, making decisions, business.
-
Conventional (C) - Data, details, routines.
-
Social (S) - Helping people, teaching, talking.
Curious about your own codes? Take an interest profiler here!
