Top 5: Best Photos of the Year
Our team members' photos make it clear: our educators always put Students First. From encouraging our athletes to teaching our students the importance of collaboration and finding common ground, thank you for supporting our kids! Here's to a great summer -- whether you are jet-setting or getting some well-deserved rest and relaxation!

Check out all of the photos here and congratulations to our final Top 5 giveaway winner this year, Miriam Cavender at Palmer Elementary!
5. "KCAA girls soccer team dousing Coach Clay Jessen with water after a hard-fought victory!" -- Clay Jessen, Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy

4. "I love this picture of our first place relay team at the Special Olympics Track and Field event this year. Our students were so proud of themselves this day!" -- Jennifer Gaff, Sabin World School

3. "Here is one of my favorite photos from our dance program. We engage 180 students each day! From the complete beginner to students about to enter BFA programs, they each have found love and passion for dance." -- Joseph DeMers, South High School

2. "We had the Rockies assembly, which also had a door decorating contest. We made a door with the acronym TEAM, 'Together Everyone Achieves More' -- and we won! Our prize was a special visit from Dinger! -- Valerie Lovato, Eagleton Elementary

1. "This picture is my favorite of the year for so many reasons. These two fifth graders worked with me on a school 'newspaper' project. We wanted to showcase two students who might seem different, but then highlight what they have in common. The kids had so much fun discussing and interviewing each other about likes and dislikes they share -- as well as family similarities. We then took a picture of the two of them, and created a poster board that was showcased at the front office for all of the Palmer community to see. The project was a fantastic way to encourage students to look past surface differences with one another and dig deeper to find that we are all more alike than different!" -- Miriam Cavender, Palmer Elementary

PERA Contribution Increases Begin in July
All DPS team members contribute a portion of their paychecks to PERA. Beginning July 7, the contribution amount will an increase from 8% to 8.75% of your paycheck. There will be additional contribution increases in 2020 and 2021. These increases are the result of legislation passed in 2018, which was designed to fully fund PERA.

To help manage this financial change, team members will receive an additional .25% salary increase in the 2019-20 school year as part of the across-the-board adjustments.

As a reminder, every dollar you contribute to PERA goes toward funding your personal retirement account at PERA -- and, it is your money whenever you leave the PERA system.
