Almost 100 people gathered in Dublin recently for the IMS MAXIMS company conference as the clinical software specialist looked ahead to celebrating its 30
th birthday later this year.
Across the past 30 years the company has evolved from its patient administration system technology to launching a web-based electronic patient record, securing major investment for global expansion and releasing its software as open source. Its solutions are now used across 180 healthcare organisations by 30,000 users each day, benefiting around 13 million patients.
Guests travelled to the Royal Marine Hotel in Dublin from many corners of Europe including England, Scotland, Ireland, Romania and France. 'Team IMS', as the company is referenced internally, reflected on past successes and took part in group working sessions that covered recognising achievements, team culture and product development.
One session in particular focused on supporting the company's ambition to develop more software, faster. Teams were given a series of healthcare scenarios and challenged to pitch a clinical app to a 'Dragon's Den-style' panel. This resulted in a range of creative ideas to take forward, and further encouraged the company's culture of open thinking and solution-orientated working. Two IMS MAXIMS staff went even further and took the opportunity to present a working demonstration of an app built in their own time.
