May 5 - 11 is Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW). Celebrated the first full week in May, PSRW is a time to honor those serving our community as federal, state, county, and local government employees.

During this time we want to express our gratitude to those who show their unwavering commitment to serving our community. We want to extend a special thanks to those dedicated public servants we work with year-round from the following organizations:

Kansas Museums Association, Kansas Government Finance Officers Association, Local Government Network, Women in Public Service, City Clerks and Municipal Finance Officers Association of Kansas, and Kansas County Clerks and Election Officials Association.

Women in Public Service

We had a great turnout at the Women in Public Service Luncheon. We saw over 70 incredible women in attendance!

Mental Health & Substance Abuse Coalition

The MHSAC, in partnership with Wichita South High School, hosted a community update event. Attendees had the chance to hear insights from professionals engaged in mental health and substance abuse crisis work and interact with booths hosted by different service providers.

Homelessness Task Force

The PPMC facilitated a full day of meetings for the Homelessness Task Force. Over the past year more than 100 public, private, and community partners have taken part in strategic planning to help our community reimagine how we serve our neighbors and address homelessness in our community.

CUPSO 2024

Team PPMC had a blast at the 2024 CUPSO conference at UMass in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Staff Retreat

Team PPMC wrapped up our first retreat of the year! We enjoyed team bonding games and icebreakers, then delved into work plans, team norms, DEI initiatives, and professional development.

Wichita Collective Impact

Tabernacle’s Learning Center was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Wichita Collective Impact. This grant will facilitate summer learning programs in math and reading for incoming first and second-graders. Additionally, they honored over 80 students within their congregation for notable improvements in attendance, grades, and behavior referrals during the last quarter.

We are proud to be part of Wichita Collective Impact as it continues to drive positive transformation one initiative at a time!

Presented by the Public Policy & Management Center, this is your opportunity to engage on topics that directly impact city/county management.
