Team training from Prairie Fit provides a customized program designed for your team’s needs. Whether it’s speed, conditioning, strength, agility or something else, we create a comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of your team and the sport you play. Sessions may also be customized by training techniques desired, quantity of sessions, equipment needed, number of participants, and your unique team building needs.

Volunteers Needed for Halloween Events


Volunteers are vital to the success of many Park District programs and are currently needed for Frankenstein's Kiddie Carnival October 14 and Haunted Hayrides October 21-22. Frankenstein's Kiddie Carnival needs help with games and snacks, while Haunted Hayrides needs volunteers to serve as ghosts, ghouls and zombies for each night. Youth Basketball Leagues


Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Practices start in December, taking time off for the holidays, with games starting in January. Early bird rate ends October 15.

Open Board Positions


Petition packets for the positions of commissioner of the Plainfield Park District are now available for pick-up at the Recreation Administration Center, 23729 W. Ottawa St., in Plainfield. Business hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Digital petition packets can be requested by contacting Executive Secretary Heather Caldwell.


Petitions must be filed with the Recreation Administration Center by 9 a.m., December 12, 2022 and no later than 5 p.m., December 19, 2022. Please contact the Illinois State Board of elections, 217-782-4141 or visit their website for more information.

Indoor Soccer/Futsal


Last call for Futsal/Indoor Soccer for boys and girls, ages 3-4 and 5-6. The leagues are held 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays, October 22 through December 17, at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Futsal introduces players the rules of the game, develops skills, teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship, and provides an opportunity for fun. The first two weeks are practices and the remainder of the season is games. Everyone receives a shirt.

Preseason Basketball Skills Camp


With the season right around the corner, let us help you get ready with a preseason skills camp for ages 8-12 running Sundays, November 6 through December 11. Staff puts athletes through various skills and mini games, with each week focusing on a particular set of skills followed by games at the end of class.
