Economic Forecast Luncheon - St. Louis is a Big, Small Town
Over 430 members attended Wednesday's Economic Forecast Luncheon at the Doubletree Hilton Chesterfield. Charles Gascon, from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, shared his perspective on metro growth and prosperity. Some interesting highlights from Mr. Gascon's presentation include:

  • The cost of living in St. Louis is nearly 10 percent below United States average. Is this a good thing or a bad thing for St. Louis economic growth?
  • St. Louis' population density is approximately 8000 people per square mile. How do we compare to other metro areas?
  • 63116 is the fastest growing zip code in St. Louis. Why is that?

Radon and municipal code
Did you know that some St. Louis area municipalities require a permit to install a radon mitigation system? Creve Coeur and Kirkwood do! The permit fee is approximately $100 and your radon mitigation installer will need additional time to file the permit and coordinate inspections. In some cases, it's not just the functionality of the mitigation system that must meet municipal code. In areas, such as Kirkwood, aesthetic comes into play, dependent on the location of the exterior stack.
