Using Chromecasts in a Business Setting

The Google Chromecast is a unit that has been picking up some steam, especially in recent months. In fact, the Ridge Support office uses Chromecast in a few different areas to do things like share information and complete trainings.

What Is A Chromecast?

In essence, a Chromecast is a device that connects your TV to your network. This allows the devices on the network to communicate with the TV, allowing the ability for a computer to share a browser window or desktop on the TV. This connection is made over the network, so no cable that links the device to the TV screen is needed and it allows many devices to use this functionality without the need to move cables around.
In order for a device to use the Chromecasting feature, it simply needs to be on the same network as the Chromecasting device, have Google Chrome open, and select the cast option from within the browser. This is done through clicking the "three dots" in the top right corner of Chrome (as seen in the image to the left).


How Can It Be Used?

We have used this device to complete training (both internally and for clients), make pitches, and to post our up to date service board for all to see.
