Managed Detection and Response: A Comprehensive Cybersecurity Service

Managed Detection and Response (MDR) has become one of the fastest growing technologies/services within the cybersecurity realm over the last year or so. It went from something that not many understood to something that appears on a growing number of cybersecurity guides and notices.

At this point, most all cybersecurity companies offer an MDR solution and Sophos is no different in that regard. What makes their solution stand out, however, is their central portal that existed before MDR became a thing. Having that one console with access to logs from the firewall, from endpoints, from email filtering, etc. allows the monitoring team to see aspects from various points in the network at the same time and put events together.

Since MDR is designed to have 24/7 monitoring and enable the prevention, isolation, cleanup, and investigation to occur at times when the issue may not even be noticed by end users, this feature really enhances the abilities of the engineers. An engineer who is looking at logs from endpoints, emails, firewalls, etc. is going to have more complete data to make decisions off of so that they can act faster and complete their jobs at a higher level than someone who is just doing MDR via endpoint security and will need to wait for the breach to hit a specific workstation that has the endpoint on it before they can start taking any action.
