NAS Units: What They Are And Why They Might Help
A NAS (Network Attached Storage) unit is something that has been around for quite some time, but may not be all too familiar with many users. While servers and computers are in the forefront of some people's minds, NAS units just are not.
Particularly on smaller networks, a NAS could be an affordable way to add local storage that can be accessed and managed by multiple systems. Essentially, it serves as a bundle of local drives. While they don't have the capability to run local programs like a traditional server does, the increasingly cloud-based program usage has made them a much more feasible option.
Even for organizations that have servers, NAS units could be used for specific storage purposes and could help to alleviate storage issues when there is a certain type of file storage that is becoming a burden on the server. The NAS allows these organizations the ability to remove that data to help improve the server performance without needing to spend the money it'd take to add or improve parts of the server.
If a NAS may be something that interests your organization, please feel free to reach out to Ridge Support and we can discuss what issues they may serve to alleviate for you.
