Computer technology made easy with SeniorNet!

Since 1999 SeniorNet, now FSL SeniorNet, a program of Family Service League, has provided a welcoming environment for teaching seniors, 50 and older, how to use technology. We invite beginners to advanced students to join us for hands-on instruction learning to use smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers and more. Below are upcoming classes that you may find interest you, or, more importantly, need.

These trade-in programs offer cash or store credit for used devices.

Key takeaways

  • Seven major retailers offer trade-in programs that pay with cash, gift cards or store credit for eligible electronics.
  • Trade-in values, payment methods and processing times vary widely, making it worthwhile to compare offers.
  • Before trading in electronics, back up files and wipe personal data.

Three steps to take before you trade in

  • Shop around.
  • Back up your files.
  • Wipe your data clean.

When a device isn't eligible for trade-in, don’t put lithium-ion batteries or devices containing them in household garbage or recycle bins. Instead, take it to an appropriate battery or electronics recycling location, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends.
